Domaine Valga

At Domaine Valga, couples can marry at the edge of a quiet lake, surrounded by old forest on the slopes of Mont-Comi.

The domaine covers 165 hectares in Saint-Gabriel-de-Rimouski, around a lake stocked with fish, with a nine-bedroom log inn and three log cabins. It sits about 300 metres up on the west face of the mountain, with forested hills and one of the oldest ancestral maple groves in Québec nearby.

The land has a long history as a retreat: its first owner shaped the lake for fishing in 1894, and religious brothers later kept it almost untouched. A local family has run it since 2002, and the next generation now works alongside the founders.

Ceremonies can take place by the lake, in front of the inn or elsewhere on the grounds, and the aerial courses close for the afternoon when vows are said at the water. A tent can be set up near the inn, and fireworks can light up the evening.

The team offers a personalized, all-day service rather than a simple room rental. Planning meetings, the room, tables, chairs and white linens are included, decorators can arrive in the morning, and staff greet guests and help throughout the night.

Inn rooms are reserved for the wedding party as soon as they are free, with breakfast the next morning for those who stay. Moose, deer, beavers and loons share the property.
