Some celebrations are remembered by the light: the sun lowering over the water, the sky changing colour and a small group of people gathered close enough to share it.
Cielo sits on the shores of Baie St-Simon in Haut-Shippagan, on New Brunswick's Acadian coast. The bay is known for its oysters, and the property is open year-round, with beach access and sunsets over the water.
At the heart of the site is the Hub, a gathering place created by owners Pat and Emilie to bring together community members, visitors and local producers. The Hub is available for private rental for special events, with rental costs that vary by season, day of the week and number of guests.
Food and drink are central to the experience. The Hub's dining concept is built around local products, many made in Cielo's own commercial kitchen or with regional producers, and turned into Cielo sharing boards. These can be paired with beer, wine or signature cocktails made with local spirits. The property also includes gardens where vegetables, berries and edible flowers are grown for the kitchen.
Accommodation is right on site. Five domes, known as the Perles, each include a full kitchen, a private bathroom with a glass shower, a Big Green Egg barbecue, a wood pellet fireplace and a year-round electric hot tub. There are three one-bedroom domes for couples and two two-bedroom domes.
That means close family or friends could stay steps from the water rather than driving home at the end of the evening, turning a gathering into a slower weekend on the coast.
The Hub also hosts live music evenings through the year, which says a lot about the relaxed, social atmosphere the space was built for.
For couples or families planning an intimate celebration on the Acadian coast, with local food, ocean sunsets and somewhere lovely to stay, Cielo offers a private space with a strong sense of place.
