Some celebrations belong in the heart of a community, in a place where people have been gathering for generations.

The Centre régional de loisirs culturels in Kapuskasing is a non-profit cultural and recreation centre that has served the region's francophone community for more than 50 years, offering shows, workshops, social activities and community services under one roof on Aurora Avenue.

Alongside its programming, the centre rents out a range of rooms, which makes it a flexible option for private functions of many sizes.

The largest space is Salle L.J. Fortin, a 50 by 100 foot hall of about 5,000 square feet. It can hold up to approximately 400 people when a liquor licence is in place, or around 550 with chairs only.

For smaller gatherings there is Salle L.J. Fortin Sud, for up to approximately 80 people, along with Salle Francine Garon for around 70 and Salle Perras Murray for around 64. Salon Richelieu is set up with a conference table for 18.

The centre also has the Amphithéâtre Mariette M. Dallaire, with capacity for about 218 people.

With several rooms in one building, a family might picture a larger celebration in the main hall and a more intimate gathering the day before in one of the smaller rooms, all without leaving the same familiar place.

Rentals are arranged in person at the centre or by phone.
