Alforno Bakery & Cafe

At Alforno Bakery & Cafe, a wedding comes wrapped in the smell of fresh bread, with vows said in front of a soft white tulle backdrop and a celebration that flows straight into a long, happy meal.

This is the flagship Alforno, set in the heart of Eau Claire in downtown Calgary. Everything here is made from scratch each day, from breads and pastries to artisan pizza and hand-made pasta.

Couples can book the whole venue, which seats 60 guests or holds 120 for a standing reception. In the warmer months a seasonal patio adds room for 30 seated or 40 standing guests.

Ceremonies can happen right on site within the booking. The ceremony setup includes 40 chairs, the white tulle backdrop, a water station and a signing table.

Celebrations can be held in the morning or the evening. Morning weddings can lean into breakfast and brunch, with canapes and a mimosa bar alongside sparkling wine, while evening menus offer buffets or family style dinners of salads, pastas, entrees and sides, with a carving station on the larger options.

Because this is a bakery first, the cake is a highlight. Custom cakes come in flavours such as vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, hazelnut, lemon, coffee, carrot and pistachio, served plated with china and cutlery. A wine list, cocktails and local craft beers round out the bar.
