Wolf's Botanical Wedding Island

Wolf's Botanical Wedding Island gives an Alberta ceremony the feeling of crossing a bridge and leaving the ordinary side of the day behind.

Just outside Lacombe, the outdoor venue began with an irrigation pond and an island on a tree nursery property.

Then the idea changed.

Trees were planted.

Grass was grown.

A bridge was built.

And by 2012, the island had hosted its first wedding.

Today, couples arrive at a private botanical setting designed specifically for outdoor ceremonies, surrounded by greenery, native trees and landscaped spaces.

Only one wedding is booked per day, giving the ceremony privacy rather than making couples share the property with another celebration.

The season runs through Alberta's warmer months, generally from mid-June through September.

That lets the island become part of the moment itself.

Guests gather.

The couple crosses toward the ceremony.

Vows happen beneath open sky.

Then photographs can move through the gardens, paths and surrounding landscape without ever needing an artificial backdrop.

For couples who want the ceremony to feel like a destination in itself, Wolf's Botanical Wedding Island offers something wonderfully literal.

A bridge.
