The Valley Weddings

The path into The Valley winds among the pines toward the sound of a creek, and somewhere along the way it begins to feel as though your wedding has found a secret little world of its own.

Set near Westerose in the heart of Alberta, The Valley is a seasonal outdoor wedding venue surrounded by trees, water and the kind of countryside quiet that makes everything happening within it feel a little more important. From May through October, couples come here to step away from the everyday and spend one extraordinary day tucked into nature.

The ceremony is at the heart of the experience. Guests arrive through the trees and gather outdoors while the landscape does what no amount of decorating ever quite can. Pines rise around the celebration, the creek moves nearby and the person you are about to marry is waiting somewhere at the end of the aisle.

Then comes that moment.

The music changes. Everyone turns around. And suddenly a place that was simply beautiful a few minutes earlier becomes the place where you said “I do.”

Afterwards, the landscape gives couples room to disappear together for photographs. Trees, water and changing light create different little corners throughout the property, allowing those first married portraits to feel less like leaving the wedding for a photoshoot and more like taking a quiet walk together before returning to everyone you love.

That is part of what makes an outdoor wedding here feel so different. The scenery never really leaves the celebration. As afternoon becomes evening, the light moves through the trees, the air cools and the same place where everyone gathered for the ceremony begins to take on an entirely different feeling.

And eventually, the carefully planned part of the wedding gives way to the part nobody could have planned.

The vows have been said. Photographs have captured the last beautiful pieces of daylight. Everyone you love is together, and somewhere nearby the creek is still following exactly the same path it was taking when the day began.

There is an easy kind of fairytale to The Valley. Not castles or ballrooms, but pine trees, water, open air and the feeling of finding somewhere hidden away from everything else.

For one day, the valley holds your entire little world inside it.

And afterwards, it becomes one of those places you will never be able to think about without remembering exactly who was standing beside you there.
