The Omni King Edward Hotel has been watching Toronto love stories unfold for more than a century.
Opened in 1903 as Toronto’s first luxury hotel, the King Edward carries the kind of history that simply cannot be recreated in a newer venue. Now, another wedding gets to become part of that story.
Couples can choose among three distinctive ballrooms, each offering its own version of old Toronto glamour.
The Vanity Fair Ballroom draws your eyes upward the moment you enter, with an arched dome ceiling and two dramatic teardrop chandeliers hanging above the room. It can welcome wedding celebrations of up to 280 guests, giving grand entrances, dinner, speeches and dancing the kind of setting they deserve.
The Sovereign Ballroom feels as though a little piece of the Edwardian era has been carefully protected for couples today. Its historic architecture has been preserved with the assistance of the Historical Society of Toronto, with 24-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows creating a room filled with both height and natural light. Weddings here can welcome up to 190 guests.
And then there is the Crystal Ballroom.
Originally opened in 1922, this remarkable room sits high above Toronto, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic city views. After an extensive restoration, its ornate mouldings and historic character remain, now ready for celebrations of up to 280 guests for dinner and dancing.
There is something wonderfully romantic about standing in a ballroom that has already lived through so much history.
The city changes outside the windows. Afternoon becomes evening. Chandeliers begin to glow overhead and the carefully set tables fill with people from every chapter of your lives.
Behind the scenes, the hotel’s wedding and culinary teams help bring the celebration together, from menus and décor to entertainment and the practical details couples should not have to think about once the day finally arrives.
