The Grand Ivory is one of those rare wedding venues that was imagined by people who were once searching for their own perfect place to get married.
Owners Brittany and Preston originally dreamed of creating the kind of space they wanted for their own wedding. That dream eventually grew into The Grand Ivory, a bright, purpose-built wedding venue just outside Moncton where couples are given something wonderfully simple: a beautiful beginning, with plenty of room to make the rest entirely their own.
Inside, the 4,000-square-foot reception space is open, airy and filled with natural light. Rather than deciding what a wedding should look like before the couple arrives, the room acts as a canvas for whatever comes next. Flowers can spill across tables, candles can soften the evening, colour can completely transform the space, or couples can keep everything beautifully simple and let the light and room speak for themselves.
Current wedding packages accommodate up to 225 seated guests, with space intentionally left for the pieces that make a reception come alive, from dinner and speeches to the dance floor later in the evening.
Outside, the celebration can begin beneath open New Brunswick skies. The property's outdoor ceremony area is tucked among the trees, with an A-frame structure and pew seating creating a dedicated place for the moment everyone has been waiting for.
And when the weather decides otherwise, the ceremony does not have to leave the property. The main building can also be used for indoor ceremonies, while heating and air conditioning allow The Grand Ivory to host celebrations throughout the year.
The wedding morning has been thought about too.
Two separate preparation suites mean both sides of the wedding party can arrive, settle in and get ready on site without constantly trying not to run into one another before the ceremony. There is a licensed staffed bar, catering preparation area, generous parking and an outdoor fire-pit area where guests can gather as the evening cools.
Couples also have support from a WPIC-certified wedding and events planner throughout the planning process, along with the freedom to choose the outside vendors who best fit their own vision.
But perhaps the best part of a blank canvas is seeing what happens to it once the wedding finally begins.
In the morning, it is a beautiful empty room.
Then flowers arrive. Tables are dressed. Music begins somewhere in the building and the preparation suites fill with that wonderful mixture of nerves and excitement.
A few hours later, the seats outside are filled with everyone you love.
And by night, nothing about the room feels blank anymore.
It holds the flowers you chose, the meal you shared, the speeches nobody will forget and a dance floor full of people who came to celebrate the two of you.
Brittany and Preston may have built The Grand Ivory around their idea of a perfect wedding space.
