Silver Lake Camp Weddings

Silver Lake Camp is for couples who want everyone to come to the wedding and then stay for camp.

Only about 15 kilometres north of Peachland, the property disappears into the woods beside Silver Lake, creating the kind of local destination wedding where the guest list becomes a little community of its own for the weekend.

And the ceremony can happen almost anywhere nature seems to have saved a space for it.

Among the trees.

Beside the shoreline.

At the amphitheatre.

Or right out on the dock, with the lake stretching behind the vows.

Each one feels completely different, yet all of them belong to the same wonderfully woodsy little world.

Then there is everything that happens around the wedding.

Guests can stay in rustic bunk-style cabins, bring RVs or camp beneath the trees, meaning nobody necessarily has to drive away when the evening ends.

That turns arrival day into part of the story.

Cars pull in.

Cabins fill.

People who may have only met once before suddenly find themselves sharing a weekend beside a lake.

There is swimming and canoeing, trails and outdoor activities, and plenty of time for everyone to settle into the place before the carefully planned part begins.

Then chairs appear beside the water.

Wedding clothes replace camp clothes.

The music starts.

And the same dock someone wandered across yesterday becomes the place where two people make the biggest promise of their lives.

Afterwards, everyone comes back together.

The lodge becomes the heart of the reception, with food prepared on site and the relaxed atmosphere of camp still sitting underneath all the flowers, speeches and beautifully dressed tables.

Eventually dinner gives way to music.

Outside, Silver Lake grows dark.

Inside, the people who spent the day celebrating have absolutely nowhere else they need to be.

Tomorrow there can be breakfast.

Another paddle.

Stories about whatever happened after the sensible guests went to bed.

That may be Silver Lake's loveliest luxury.

Not chandeliers.

Not marble floors.

Time.

Time for the people you love to arrive, settle in, watch you get married and still be there when you wake up the next morning.
