Royal Regina Golf Club

Royal Regina Golf Club feels like a wedding with a long memory behind it, the kind of place where the fairways have been rolling out to the horizon since 1899.

Saskatchewan's first golf club, and one of just six across Canada carrying the Royal designation, hosts weddings in a clubhouse of 18,000 square feet between May and the middle of October. The Banquet Room looks out over the course, and its 58 by 49 foot floor can be arranged to suit the couple: 110 guests for a buffet, 130 for a plated dinner, or up to 225 for a standing reception. The clubhouse also holds the Stanley Thompson Dining Room and the Stanley Larkin Lounge, and the view stretches from the greens to the city skyline.

Ceremonies can happen on site for 80 guests or fewer, with the reception following in the same room, and photographs can be taken inside the clubhouse or out on the course itself. A large patio gives guests somewhere to gather with a drink before dinner.

The wedding package brings the practical pieces together: a plated or buffet dinner from Executive Chef Derek Thompson's kitchen, midnight lunch options, a dance floor, a podium and microphone, a sound system, linens, coffee and tea, and cake cutting. The Food and Beverage Manager helps plan the evening, and the bar can run as host, cash or subsidized, with dancing until 1 am.

Imagine vows in the late afternoon light, portraits among the trees, then dinner with the whole course turning gold outside the windows. For couples who want a Regina wedding with history, a view and a kitchen to match, the Royal treatment is a fitting phrase.
