Manoir Shawbridge

Manoir Shawbridge feels like the kind of place where a wedding could take over an old Laurentian house for the weekend and make itself completely at home.

In Prévost, surrounded by the landscape of the Laurentians, this historic manor traces its story back to 1858. It later became part of the old Laurentian Lodge Ski Club, and today its aged wood floors, antique character, fireplace and sprawling grounds have found another life as an intimate place to gather.

Weddings here are deliberately small.

Around 50 guests can gather in the main reception room, where the hardwood floor proudly shows its age rather than trying to hide it. Couples can bring their own decorating style to the space, allowing flowers, candles and personal details to sit naturally alongside the history already written into the room.

Outside, the grounds open up another possibility entirely.

Couples can hold a country-style ceremony surrounded by nature, letting the landscape become the backdrop to the vows before everyone wanders back toward the manor for the celebration.

Inside, a large lounge gathered around a wood-burning fireplace gives guests somewhere wonderfully warm to settle in. There is also a kitchen directly beside the reception room for the couple's caterer, keeping dinner connected to the celebration without dictating who must provide it.

But one of the loveliest things about Manoir Shawbridge happens after the reception would normally end.

People can stay.

Twelve bedrooms sleep up to 27 guests, allowing some of the people closest to the couple to make the manor home for the weekend.

That changes everything.

The wedding can begin with people arriving the day before rather than rushing through the doors minutes before the ceremony. Family wakes up in the same old house. Friends gather downstairs. The grounds slowly fill with familiar faces.

Then the vows happen outside.

Dinner gathers everyone into a room where the floorboards have been carrying footsteps for generations.

The fireplace glows. Stories are told. Music begins.

And eventually the wedding night becomes quieter without really ending, because some of the people you love are simply heading upstairs.

Manoir Shawbridge has been standing in the Laurentians since 1858.

For one weekend, it gets to feel like the family home where everyone gathered for your wedding.
