Kelowna Event Centre is made for couples who enjoy that kind of freedom.

Its Main Room offers approximately 8,000 square feet of open event space, making it one of the larger single-room celebration spaces in Kelowna. Weddings are specifically listed among its intended uses.

The room can accommodate up to approximately 350 guests for a seated dinner, 400 in a seated arrangement and considerably more for standing events.

That means this is somewhere a genuinely large wedding can breathe.

There is room for long tables, a proper dance floor, entertainment and all the people who somehow made it onto the guest list because neither side of the family could bear to leave them out.

A built-in stage and professional audio system are already part of the Main Room, supported by an in-house technician.

For couples planning speeches, live music, performances or a reception where the party is every bit as important as dinner, that infrastructure can make a real difference.

Upstairs, two smaller rooms add useful spaces away from the main celebration.

The Apple Blossom Suite is approximately 860 square feet and includes its own private washroom, while the Sunset Suite is approximately 655 square feet and has mountain views. They can support smaller gatherings or the behind-the-scenes pieces of a much larger event.

But the greatest advantage here is possibility.

The Main Room does not arrive pretending to be a rustic barn, vineyard or elaborate ballroom.

It gives couples space.

And sometimes that blanker beginning is exactly what allows a wedding to become personal.

By the time the lights are lowered, dinner has finished and hundreds of people have moved toward the dance floor, nobody will be thinking about the room they walked into earlier.

They will remember what the two of you turned it into.
