Ivy Ridge Weddings & Events feels like the kind of place you discover at the end of a country lane and immediately start imagining everyone you love there. Set in the countryside near Thornton and Barrie, this historic property brings together a beautifully restored heritage barn, woodland ceremony setting, gardens and stone pathways in a venue that lets the entire wedding unfold in one place.

The day can begin beneath a canopy of maple trees. Tucked into the woodland is an elevated timber pavilion overlooking the ravine, surrounded by landscaped gardens and greenery. Guests take their seats among the trees, the music begins and suddenly there is only the walk toward the person waiting at the other end.

After the vows, stone pathways lead everyone toward the cocktail terrace, where covered and open-air lounge areas, a verandah and the wonderfully distinctive grain-bin bar create a place to settle in with a drink. There is even a seated fire-pit area for when the evening begins to cool. Meanwhile, the newlyweds can disappear into the gardens and across the property for photographs before finding their way back to the celebration.

Then the old barn gets its moment.

The restored heritage barn and loft are the heart of the reception, retaining the timber and character of the property's past while being transformed for modern celebrations. Large sliding barn doors can open toward the countryside, allowing the outdoors to remain part of the atmosphere even after everyone has taken their seats for dinner.

Ivy Ridge can currently welcome weddings of up to 200 guests, with tables, cross-back chairs, ceremony seating and many of the practical pieces already waiting. Food is prepared on site by its exclusive catering team, and the venue's wedding team helps couples coordinate the day so that when it finally arrives, they can spend less time thinking about logistics and more time actually living it.

But perhaps the loveliest part of Ivy Ridge comes later.

Dinner is finished. The barn doors frame the countryside outside. Someone who promised they would not cry has already cried during the speeches. Guests drift between the dance floor, verandah and terrace, and the fire pit begins drawing people outside as evening settles over the property.
