Hôtel La Saguenéenne

Some weddings are intentionally tiny. Others bring together what feels like an entire community.

Hôtel La Saguenéenne has room for both.

Set in Chicoutimi, the hotel offers 11 reception spaces capable of welcoming celebrations ranging from only a handful of guests to extraordinary gatherings of as many as 1,200. It means couples are not forced to make their guest list fit the venue. Instead, they can begin with the people they cannot imagine celebrating without and find the room that fits them.

There is something particularly wonderful about a hotel wedding when family is travelling from different places to be there. La Saguenéenne has 118 guest rooms, allowing the people you love to arrive, settle in and become part of the wedding long before they take their seats at dinner.

And tucked inside the hotel is something unexpected: a tropical atrium with a swimming pool, spa and sauna. It gives the property a little escape of its own, somewhere guests can relax around the celebration and turn the wedding into more than a single evening.

Then comes the day itself.

The reception room is transformed. Tables are waiting. The kitchen is busy preparing the meal while upstairs, rooms are full of people getting dressed, checking ties, fixing hair and asking one another whether it is time to head downstairs yet.

Eventually, everyone ends up in the same room.

Dinner begins. Glasses are raised. Stories that have been told a hundred times somehow become funnier when delivered into a microphone.
