Deane House

Deane House feels less like booking a wedding venue and more like borrowing a beautiful old Calgary home for the day.

Set beside the Elbow River in Inglewood, the historic house is surrounded by gardens, lawns and mature greenery, with downtown Calgary close enough to glimpse while the property itself feels wonderfully tucked away.

And weddings here can take many different shapes.

An intimate dinner can gather inside one of the character-filled rooms of the house.

The Library feels especially suited to a celebration where every guest knows the couple well, while the enclosed Verandah looks toward the gardens, river and evening sky.

For the larger summer wedding, the celebration moves outside.

A seasonal tent rises among the gardens, creating room for around 160 guests to sit down together while the historic house and surrounding greenery remain part of the evening.

That is when Deane House becomes particularly lovely.

The ceremony is over.

Guests have drinks in the garden.

The newlyweds disappear along the river and through the grounds for photographs.

Then everyone finds their way back to tables waiting beneath the tent.

Food is naturally central here. Deane House is an established restaurant as well as an event venue, so the wedding dinner belongs to the experience rather than simply filling the space between ceremony and dancing.

As evening settles over Inglewood, the garden lights begin to matter more.
