Some wedding venues have gardens.

At the Coutts Centre, the gardens are part of the story.

Set just outside Nanton, this historic Alberta homestead is surrounded by acres of perennial gardens, mature trees, lawns and restored farm buildings. It feels less like somewhere built specifically for weddings and more like a beautiful piece of prairie history that has opened its gates for couples to celebrate inside it.

There are little reminders of the property's past everywhere.

Old farm buildings sit among the gardens. The Writers Cabin began life as a granary. An avenue of elm trees stretches across the grounds, creating a naturally beautiful pathway that seems almost made for the quiet anticipation of a wedding ceremony.

For most of your life, walking beneath a row of trees would take only a minute.

On your wedding day, it somehow feels much longer.
