Black Barn

A wedding at Black Barn begins out on the Alberta land, where fields stretch around a working farm and Pipestone Creek runs nearby.

The property covers 454 acres, giving a celebration the rare feeling of having slipped away into its own private world. At its heart is a 1950s dairy barn, carefully restored into a 4,300-square-foot venue where wood-planked floors and a generous loft keep the history present while modern comforts make the day feel beautifully cared for.

There are several places for the most important promise. Vows can be exchanged in the garden, beneath the trees of the Old Grove, inside the charming barn or under the covered Pavilion. That Pavilion has its own warmth, with an eight-foot fireplace and overhead heaters, while the charming barn is climate controlled for both summer heat and cooler days. The venue accommodates up to 175 guests, and the ceremony and reception can remain together on the property.

The hours before the aisle have their own spaces too. One preparation suite offers soft natural light, vanities, a private washroom, sitting area and wet bar, while the Pool Hall gives another side of the wedding party somewhere relaxed to get ready.

Tables, seating, setup and day-of cleanup are included with wedding packages, supported by on-site staff and a planning session. Outside, the south-facing patio, lawns, romantic gardens, field and creek create different chapters for photographs and conversation.

Black Barn feels rooted in the idea that a marriage is the beginning of a family story. Here, that first page can be written between old beams and wide, romantic open skies, with everyone you love gathered close enough to hear the laughter carry across the farm.
