Barn + Bliss Wedding and Events

Barn + Bliss Wedding and Events is the kind of place that makes you want to leave the city behind, follow the country roads and spend the day somewhere that feels completely removed from ordinary life. Set on four acres in Verner, about 45 minutes from both North Bay and Sudbury, a beautifully restored historic dairy barn stands surrounded by farmers’ fields, wildflowers and the countryside of West Nipissing.

The barn itself has been given a second life without losing the character that makes an old building so special. Original beams and barn wood remain at the heart of the space, now joined by soaring ceilings, white drapery, chandeliers and hundreds of tiny lights. Downstairs, the reception hall can welcome up to 300 guests for dinner and dancing, with a large custom bar created from live-edge wood and tin from the original barn roof.

Couples have more than one beautiful place to say “I do.” Outside, the hillside ceremony space looks across farm fields and greenery, with a rustic arbour waiting to be dressed to suit each wedding. There is also an indoor ceremony space beneath the barn’s original beams, offering a romantic alternative if the weather changes its mind. Having the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception spaces together means the day can simply unfold, without guests being sent from one location to another or the couple having to sacrifice their plans because a few clouds have rolled in.

Upstairs, a cocktail lounge overlooks the reception and dance floor below, with comfortable seating, a second bar, vintage pieces and softer lighting. It gives guests somewhere to slip away from the music for a conversation before wandering back downstairs when their favourite song starts playing. Outside, the barn, surrounding fields, landscaped areas and patches of wildflowers create plenty of places for photographs without needing to leave the property.

There is also a love story behind Barn + Bliss itself. Owners Kyle and Kait first imagined restoring a barn for their own wedding, and what began as something personal eventually grew into the family-run venue couples celebrate in today. The current barn was painstakingly restored with the help of family, friends and neighbours before officially opening for weddings in 2021.

Maybe that is why Barn + Bliss feels particularly fitting for a wedding. It is a place built from someone else’s love story, ready to hold the beginning of yours. The doors open onto the countryside, the chandeliers glow against old timber, dinner gives way to dancing and, for one night, an old dairy barn in Northern Ontario becomes the place everyone you love will remember.
