Sometimes the most romantic wedding venues are not the places created to host hundreds of strangers.

Aldergrove Pond House is exactly that.

Set on five private acres in British Columbia's Fraser Valley, this family property is surrounded by gardens, mature trees, lawns and a large pond where ducks quietly share the landscape. Intimate weddings are intentionally kept small, with celebrations of up to approximately 30 guests.

That scale allows the property to feel wonderfully personal.

A ceremony can happen beside the pond, beneath the trees or on one of the open lawns. Weeping willows lean toward the water, seasonal flowers appear throughout the gardens and little wooden bridges create the kind of scenery that feels discovered rather than staged.

There is even a yellow rowboat waiting on the pond.

After the vows, couples can wander through the property for photographs while guests remain nearby enjoying the gardens.

The venue also allows couples freedom to bring in the vendors and details that suit their celebration rather than forcing the day into a preset formula.

But Aldergrove Pond House does not need to be transformed into something grand.

Its charm is that it already feels like home, only with five acres of gardens wrapped around it.
