Ager Lane Flower Farm and Event Space

At Ager Lane, the flowers are not brought in to make the farm look like a wedding venue.

They grow here.

Set in Big Bras d'Or on Cape Breton Island, Ager Lane is a working organic and regenerative flower farm that opens itself to just ten weekend weddings each summer.

That small number feels important.

This is not a wedding factory with another couple waiting for the room tomorrow morning. The farm has been designed for celebrations that are given time and space to settle into the landscape.

The most magical place to begin is a circle tucked into a four-acre wildflower meadow.

Up to 100 guests can gather there for the ceremony, with chairs and a wooden arbour available while the meadow provides the part nobody could recreate indoors.

Then the wedding begins wandering.

The lawn between the ceremony space and barn can become cocktail hour. The garden grows food, flowers and herbs beside a 24-foot greenhouse, while couples can even arrange to pick flowers from the farm for their celebration.

Eventually everyone finds their way to the barn.

Up to 100 guests can sit down together inside, where windows catch the evening light before dinner gives way to dancing. If the weather changes the ceremony plans, the barn can step in for that too.

And because couples have multi-day access for weekend weddings, there is time to arrive before the wedding itself, prepare the farm without rushing and come back the following morning to gather everything once the celebration is over.

Perhaps that is what makes Ager Lane feel particularly romantic.

For one weekend, you are not simply decorating a room.

You are getting married among things that are actually growing.

Flowers are not simply decoration here. They are growing around the celebration, and couples can even add a flower u-pick to their experience.

There is something almost storybook about it: vows in a meadow, dinner in a barn, flowers grown under the same Cape Breton sky and a venue created because another couple once wanted exactly this kind of place to say yes.
