Abkhazi Garden Teahouse

There may be no more fitting place for an intimate wedding than somewhere known as "The Garden that Love Built."

Abkhazi Garden began in 1946, the same year Prince and Princess Abkhazi married and settled in Victoria. Together they spent decades shaping their one-acre garden around mature Garry oaks, rocky slopes, Japanese maples, rhododendrons and flowers.

Today, couples can add their own love story to it.

Wedding ceremonies can welcome up to approximately 50 guests in the garden, with exclusive use available outside regular public hours. The Teahouse can then gather up to 36 people for an intimate celebration.

It is difficult to imagine needing much decoration here.

The ceremony can take place near the Summer House with decades of growth surrounding everyone.

The vows finish.

Champagne is poured.

Then the newlyweds wander through the garden for photographs while the people closest to them linger nearby.

Inside the Teahouse, the celebration becomes even more intimate.

White linen tables.

Warm wood.

Afternoon tea.

And a room small enough that every person there truly feels part of the day.
